Classic Afghan Biscuits

Makes 10

Baking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

 

¾ cup almond meal

1 scoop True WPI90 Rich Chocolate

2 Tbsp cacao powder

½ tsp baking powder

2 Tbsp melted butter

3 Tbsp pure maple syrup

1 cup cornflakes

50g dark chocolate

Handful of pecans or walnuts for topping

 

 

Method

 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and prepare a tray with baking paper

  2. In a large bowl combine all of the dry ingredients excluding cornflakes and chocolate and mix until combined

  3. Once mixed, fold through butter, maple syrup and cornflakes and gently mix together until combined

  4. Roll small spoonful’s of mixture in your hands and roll into small balls, placing on the tray and pressing lightly to flatten. Repeat until all mixture is used up

  5. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes

  6. Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely

  7. Melt chocolate in a small dish and pour over roughly one teaspoon onto each biscuit. While chocolate is still wet, place a walnut or peanut on top to decorate

  8. Leave to set and enjoy!
