Highly recommend, easy to mix and neutral flavour. I love knowing that it is plant derived!

FAQs
What is glutamine?
Glutamine is a naturally occurring amino acid that is most abundant in the human body. Glutamine is considered to be a conditionally essential amino acid which, means that under certain conditions your body cannot produce enough so it must be provided through the diet, similar to the other nine essential amino acids. Such situations include times of illness, physical stress such as surgery, trauma and burns, inflammatory disease states like Crohn's diseases or even prolonged endurance exercise.
How does glutamine improve health?
Glutamine plays an important role in multiple physiological functions of our body. It is the preferred fuel source of gastrointestinal cells that are responsible for maintaining its structure and reducing gut mucosal atrophy (a physical change in the intestinal cells that affects the passing of water, bacteria, electrolytes and waste through the system).
What else does glutamine do?
Our immune system defences can be reduced with high intensity training making us more susceptible to illness such as the common cold and other respiratory tract infections. Glutamine helps fortify the gut, which plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy immune system and recovery. There is also evidence to suggest that glutamine assists in the absorption of water and some electrolytes in the bowel, and so forms part of a successful rehydration strategy.
How much should I take?
Glutamine appears to be beneficial for maintaining a healthy immune system, optimal gut function and supporting strenuous exercise. Therefore optimal dosage for each individual will vary. Industry standard dosage for glutamine is 5g daily. There is evidence to show no ill effect with dosages up to 14g daily in healthy adults and so this is considered the Observed Safe Level (OSL). While glutamine does appear to have a number of benefits, there is little research in relation to the effects of glutamine in large doses over a long period of time. Therefore we advise that you stick to the recommended serving size or seek guidance from your doctor or Accredited Sports Dietitian.
Is there a specific time to take glutamine in relation to training?
Research suggests the best time to take glutamine is post-workout, when your body's stores will be at their lowest. Another option is before bed, as your body uses it to recover and synthesis muscle while you sleep.
Are Japanese amino acids suitable for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes, amino acids are simply the individual building blocks of protein itself. Protein comes from various sources such as meats, whole grain carbohydrates and many vegetables. While amino acid profiles will vary in different foods, the actual amino acids are generic whether it comes from an animal or vegetable source. Many vegetarians and vegans may struggle to get adequate amino acids due to their dietary options and by having amino acids in supplement form, optimal levels can be guaranteed regardless of any restrictions faced when choosing whole foods.
How do I know your Japanese Glutamine is good quality?
True Protein's premium range of Japanese amino acids are sourced from a world leader in the field who is considered the benchmark for quality and purity. Each batch of Japanese glutamine has undergone vigorous quality checks before being made available for purchase.
Can I take True Glutamine while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't recommend using this product if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. It's best to check with your doctor before taking any supplements during this time.
Suggested Use
Add 5g (2 level tsp) to liquid of your choice, stir and consume. Take 1 serving daily or as required.
Glutamine is a maintenance supplement and how your body feels should act as a good gauge of your requirements. To avoid negative effects on body functions from regular intense training make sure you keep you Glutamine levels regularly topped up. This dosage can be scaled up potentially as high as 15 grams daily, depending on factors such as workout intensity and required recovery time.
